Almost everyone who mentioned Harry Potter to me also described it as a great read. I tried to get into it, but I couldn't make it past the first two chapters. It didn't hold my interest. But the audio version is a very different experience.
It shouldn't be different because it seems to be a word-for-word reading. But then you have Stephen Fry as the narrator, and that changed the experience from one of "interesting if you're 10 years old" to actual entertainment. Eight tapes and 6 hours of entertainment.
I enjoyed the story/Fry combination, so much that I'm now listening to Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Amazon, 8 tape box set) and look forward to future tapes.
