The style is unmistakable. It follows in the tradition of Chocolat and Blackberry Wine. Easy reading, good story.
As usual, the "actors" are well defined, well described and you really get to know them. This is a talent which is often underestimated, at least by me. I like to care for these people, to be interested in what is going to come of them. And this book manages that well. You follow the story with interest, whilst the children grow up in war-torn France, and see what the effects are having. Well worth a read.
